Notes: Commissioned by a trio of friends, Recollections is playful and melodic piece that celebrates how friendships can relationships impact our lives. The marimba acts as the central figure, acting at times as the soloist and as the driving harmonic backbone. The flute and horn take turns with imitative gestures, melodic flourishes, and soaring duets as the piece develops. The playful melodies that dominate this piece are contrasted with bold statements by the horn and driving, rhythmic ostinatos.
